Worker-Owner

John Paredes

John has been in the industry since 2014 with cycling and mechanic experience spanning retail, service, and advocacy/volunteer roles for companies like Citibike, Recycle A Bicycle, and Transportation Alternatives. John joined Workers Transport in 2017. He’s the guy to talk to about Simpsons/Terminator references. He likes doing group rides, long weekend rides out of the city, and hopes to do a cross country tour in the near future.

Worker-Owner

Lydia Moore

Lydia’s passion for bicycles began in 2006 when their grandmother gave them a bicycle that was won in a grocery store contest. Lydia used that bike to get around Chicago. Since, they have ventured and commuted on many different bicycles across thousands of miles around California, Chicago, Detroit, NYC, Philadelphia, and Portland. In 2014, Lydia received a Bicycle Technician Certification from United Bicycle Institute, and began their career in the bike industry. In 2017, Lydia joined Different Gear and began organizing and leading QTPOC centered bike rides around NYC. Lydia has taught workshops and classes about all things bicycles, and is stoked to be a worker/owner at WT!

Worker-Owner

Briton Malcomson

Once Briton realized his 10-speed Huffy could take him to the next neighborhood over to clock hours on his friend’s Nintendo 64, he was hooked. He eventually gave up on cars and has been commuting on two wheels ever since. After a few years as a mechanic and co-owning a shop in Philadelphia, He ended up at Citibike during its chaotic launch in 2013. He negotiated a bargaining agreement with TWU Local 100 and was elected shop steward and recording secretary. Briton co-launched Workers Transport in 2016.

Blane Malcomson

Blane has been in the industry since 2015. He spent several summers and winters dilevering all sorts of goodies on his Indigo 96 track frame in between wrenching shifts before giving up the courier life to be a full time mechanic. From 2016 to 2019 he was the TWU Local 100 Shop Steward for Citibike’s Field Bike Mechanic department before splitting off to join Workers Transport. He’s the inventory guy at Bedstuy Bikes and stocks a mean fridge as the official CEO of cold beverages.
